Advising and Jobs

We are excited about anybody who is passionate about political science research and the pursuit of knowledge. Before contacting us, please verify the following:

  1. Find out whether any of my research is of interest to you. This means that there should be parts that you think are interesting. For prospective PhD students: There should be parts that you believe could be useful for your own research and/or that can and should be improved.

  2. Graduate Students (M.Sc., M.A., prospective Ph.D.): please prepare a short, one-page summary of what your research is supposed to be about, which literature it builds on, and, most importantly, which research question it will answer and how. Working in my lab requires a solid analytical understanding of political institutions and behavior, basic knowledge of game theory, and methodological skills that include familiarity with multiple regression analysis and the logic of causal inference.

  3. Undergraduate Students (B.Sc., B.A.: please send me a transcript, a writing sample, and a short description of why you are interested in becoming a research assistant. Also, briefly list the research design and quantitative methods training you have received so far. If you have not been trained in methods, you will have to acquire these skills.
