Abstract
Financial markets often go through hectic periods in which traders fluctuate between euphoria and pessimism. Political economy has not yet systematically investigated whether and how events in international politics influence these price swings. This book accomplishes this synthesis, demonstrating how key events in European integration, terrorist attacks, armed conflicts, and domestic politics in the age of globalization affect various financial markets. The authors employ a unified theoretical framework and financial market econometric analysis methods for their evaluations.
